ABSTRACT

This study aims to determine the chemical composition of the essential oils present in the aerial parts of Lavandula stoechas L, leaves and flowers; selected in the region of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun part of Meknes (Morocco). The essential oils extracted by hydrodistillation using a clevenger-type and were identified by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC / MS). The major constituents of the Lavandula stoechas L, flowers essential oil are Fenchone (12.55%), α-Campholéne aldehyde (12.08%) and myrtenyl acetate (11.46%). While the leaves essential oil the main components the α -Campholéne aldehyde (13.94%), the α-Fenchone (10.75%) and Eucalyptol (9.76%). The different oils have been tested by antimicrobial activity against six bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Escherichia coli, Acinetobacter boumannii, Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and one yeast Candida albicans.

Keywords: Lavandula stoechas L., Essential oil, ?-Fenchone, ? -Campholéne aldehyde, myrtenyl acetate, Antimicrobial activity.
