Abstract

IN-VITRO PHYTOCHEMICAL, ANTI-BACTERIAL, ANTI-FUNGAL AND ANTI-LEISHMANIASIS ANALYSIS OF ERYTHRINA SUBEROSA EXTRACTS.

ABSTRACT

Medicinal plants are the great source of medicines even for the life threatening diseases and are considered potentially safe. A rough estimate showed that 20- 25% of all the drugs which are included in pharmacopeia, have primary source of natural plants. The main aim of present study was to analyze the anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-leishmaniasis activity of dichloromethane (ESLD) and methanolic extract (ESLM) of aerial parts of Erythrina suberosa. Phytochemical investigations resulted in secondary metabolites included alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins; showing rich phytochemical activity. Anti-bacterial activity was evaluated against different bacterial strains. It was observed that methanol extract has better activity against Staphylococcus aureus. No anti-fungal and anti- leishmaniasis activity was observed.
