ABSTRACT

The effect of lead, alcohol and vitamin E was analyzed in rats liver tissue treated for four and eight weeks of duration. At four weeks of treatment, in lead treated rats the catalase activity was 19.75 μg/min/gm of liver tissue, in alcohol treated rats, it was recorded 15.95, in lead and alcohol treated rats, the catalase activity was 11.05 compared to control it was 19.75 μg/min/gm of liver tissue. In vitamin E treated rats the catalase activity was 21.95, in lead with Vitamin E treated rats it was 17.08, in Alcohol with vitamin E it was 15.85 and in combination of lead, Alcohol and Vitamin E treatment the catalase activity was 13.43 μg/min/gm of liver tissue. In eight weeks of treatment, the catalase activity was 21.07 in lead treated rats, 13.53 in Alcohol and 8.78 in lead with alcohol treated rats. Compared to control, it was 21.07 μg/min/gm of liver tissue. In Vitamin E treated rats, the catalase activity was 21.73, in lead with vitamin E, it was 17.18, in Alcohol with Vitamin E the catalase activity was 14.58 and in combination of lead, alcohol and vitamin E it was recorded 12.02 μg/min/gm of liver tissue.
