ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine concentrations of capsaicin in human plasma by means of an analytical method by HPLC with fluorescence detector. Methodology: Design of single-dose, with 14 subjects under fasting conditions 1 period, 1 open sequence, randomized, comparative and prospective, the approximate retention times were capsaicin 6 minutes and naproxen 4 minutes. Results: During the next three hours twelve volunteers (85.7%) refered epigastric pain not obtaining results of the 14 samples for the determination of capsaicin in human plasma by HPLC-FLD method. Conclusions: Oral administration in tablets is not an alternative to prescribed capsaicin, the method proved to be robust, coefficients of variation less than 3.0%, performance parameters validate the HPLC-FLD method, for the determination of capsaicin in human plasma.

Keywords: capsaicin, neuropeptides, HPLC.
