ABSTRACT

40 healthy day old BV 300 layer chicks were randomly divided into two treatment groups. Group T1 (n=20) served as untreated control group (basal ration only) and Group T2 (n=20) birds were offered basal feed along with AV/HGP/16 premix @500 gm/ton of feed (M/s Ayurvet Limited), from day 0 to week 38th. Parameters viz. live weight, feed conversion ratio, serum biochemical parameters, hen housed egg production, age at first lay and egg quality traits were studied. Different parameters were studied at two phases, from 0 to 19 weeks and 20 to 38 weeks. Statistical analysis of results revealed that AV/HGP/16 premix supplementation is efficacious in improving the layer birds performance. Live body weight (g) on 38th week was significantly more in AV/HGP/16 premix supplemented group T2 birds (1405.28g) in comparison to unsupplemented control group T1 birds (1322g). Parameter viz. hen housed egg production (HHEP) and onset of egg laying were significantly affected after AV/HGP/16 premix supplementation. HHEP in AV/HGP/16 premix supplemented group T2 (76.07) was significantly (P<0.05) better than untreated control group T1 birds (70.80). Egg quality traits were improved after AV/HGP/16 premix supplementation at 500 gm/ton of feed. The product was found efficacious in improving egg production and quality traits.

Keywords: Live weight, HHEP, Onset of lay
