ABSTRACT

In recent science Nanotechnology is a burning science for researchers. Advancement in nanotechnology has enabled us to produce pure silver as nanoparticles which are more efficient than silver ions. Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles have gained much interest because they are non-toxic to human body at much low concentrations and have broad spectrum of antimicrobial actions. This study investigates an efficient and sustainable route of AgNPs preparation from 3mM AgNO3 using 5% aqueous extract of Ficus Racemosa bark as reductant and capping agent. The bio reduced silver nanoparticle were characterized using UV-Visible spectroscopy, FT-IR spectra, SEM and EDAX. A broad band was observed at 444nm in the UV-Visible spectra. The FT-IR measurement was carried out to identify the possible biomolecules responsible for acting as reducing agent. The antimicrobial activity of the synthesized nanoparticle were also examined. The result confirmed this protocol as simple, rapid, one step eco-friendly, non-toxic and an alternative conventional physico-chemical method.

Keywords: Nanoparticle, Antimicrobial, SEM, EDAX, FT-IR.
