Any system which can systematically improve these skills will be of value in schools, universities and workplaces. Aim: To investigate possible improvements in memory and selective attention, as measured by the Digit–Letter Substitution Test (DLST) and Six Letter Cancellation Test (SLCT) due to practice of Asana, pranayama and kreeda yoga. Materials and Methods: Subjects consisted of 24 school students, 14 boys, 10 girls, in the age range 11–16 years, who were attending a 7-day yoga training course during summer vacation. They were tested on the DLST and SLCT, before the starting the programme and after 7 days practice of yoga. Results: There were significant increase in the score of SLCT (p<0.001) and DLST (p<0.001) found and also these techniques reduces wrong cancellation errors. Conclusions: Yoga leads to improvement in performance on the DLST and SLCT. So there will be increase in attention, visual search and mental speed.
