Abstract

AN EVALUATION OF THE GENOTOXICITY OF AZODYES BY USING INVIVO MICRONUCLEUS ASSAY

ABSTRACT

The frequency of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes and the polychromatic to normochromatic erythrocytes ratio was studied in Swiss albino mice treated with three azodyes; Direct Brown, Direct Green, Direct Black (100 mg /Kg body weight) concentration, after which significant toxicity to the erythroid compartment was observed. The toxicity study of these Azodyes indicates to design new Azodyes that are safe and yet maintain useful dye properties.
