IN-VITRO ESTIMATION OF ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF ARQ MAKOH, ARQ KASNI, ARQ SHAHTARA

ABSTRACT

The determination of antioxidant capacity and total phenolic content for the three unani formulations such as Arq makoh, Arq kasni, Arq shahtara the drugs are hepatoprotective under unani formulations evaluated pectrophotometrically using Phosphomolybdenum method by the formation of green phosphate complex at 695nm. The anti oxidant capacity of each sample was expressed as ascorbic acid equivalent (AAE). The total phenolic content evaluated by using FC method the product of metal oxide reduction has a blue color shows broad light absorption with a max. at 764nm. FC reagent is expressed in terms of Gallic acid equivalent (GAE). The present study reveals that the selected unani formulations are a source of natural antioxidants which are important in liver disease treatment.
