PRAKRITI AND ITS CLINICAL IMPORTANCE

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda has got its unique specialty of holistic approach and includes all the factors which are necessary for maintenance of health. The concept of Prakriti (Constituent) has been described in almost all Ayurvedic classics since very beginning with its high thoughts. As the Prakriti manifest itself in individuals, differently, Prakriti of an individual, differentiate and characterizes person apart from others and consists of anatomical, physiological and psychological makeup of that person. Prakriti or constitution is formed at the time of union of sperm and ovum inside the womb. Prakriti is employed to understand the nature of an individual and recognize the change that occurs.
Anatomical and physiological component of Prakriti can be considered as Deha or Dosha Prakriti (Body constituent) where as Psychological component can be considered as Manas Prakriti (Mental constituent). According to Ayurveda, the psychosomatic constitution as also known as Deha Prakrti is represented by a description of the Physique, Physiology & psychological make-up of an individual.
