ABSTRACT
Cynodon dactylon is a traditional medicine in India. On scientific studies it is found that C. dactylon is having wide range of antimicrobial activity which include explanation of its antiviral and antibacterial nature. On investigation of Phytochemicals using GC-MS (gas chromatography – Mass spectrum) method 24 secondary metabolites were found present in C.dactylon. This review attempts to encompass the available literature on Cynodon dactylon with respect to its pharmacognostic characters, traditional uses, chemical constituents, summary of its various pharmacological activities and also the patent associated with it.
Keywords: Cynodon dactylon, Phytochemical, traditional uses, pharmacology, patent.
