ABSTRACT

A two simple reliable, accurate, precise, sensitive and economical spectrophotometric method has been developed for simultaneous estimation of Montelukast Sodium, Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride and Ambroxol Hydrochloride in bulk and in its capsule form by employing absorption correction method and first order derivative spectrophotometric method. The absorbance correction method by using methanol as a solubility for these three drugs and prepare 10 μg/ ml solution and spectra were recorded from the overlain spectra 345 nm, 307 nm and 230 nm were selected for the analysis. First order derivative absorption at 365 nm (zero crossing point of Levocetirizine dihydrochloride and Ambroxol Hydrochloride) was used for quantification of montelukast Sodium, 256.5 nm (zero crossing point of Montelukast and Levocetirizine dihydrochloride) for quantification of Ambroxol Hydrochloride and 248 nm (zero crossing point of Montelukast and Ambroxol Hydrochloride) used for quantification of Levocetirizine dihydrocholride. The above two methods were validated by performing analytical parameters which are mentioned under ICH guidelines and all parameters are within acceptable.

Keywords: Absorbance correction method, Derivative spectrophotometric method, Montelukast Sodium, Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride and Ambroxol Hydrochloride.
