ABSTRACT

Quality assurance and quality control are integral components of most aspects of the study, production, regulatory oversight, and marketing of pharmaceutical products. Adverse drug reactions are defined as any noxious unintended and undesired effects of a drug that occur at doses used for prevention, diagnosis or treatment. Adverse drug reactions (ADRS) are diverse, any organ can be the principal target or several systems can be involved simultaneously. Knowing this it becomes very difficult to prescribe a medicine safely. The aim of this study is to analyze and assess the spontaneous ADRs of some corticosteroids. The applied methodology includes documental analysis, comparison analysis as well as statistical processing of the results. The most dispensed drugs from the group of corticosteroids are those from the groups D07, H02AA;H02AB; G03A; G03AA; G03AB ; G03AC and G03CA. The most common ADRs include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, dermatitis and other. The fact that these drugs are one of the most prescribed the above mentioned ADRs must lead to non-compliance with the drug therapy. That is why the pharmacists are those that must inform the patients about them in order to minimize the risk of treatment refusal. Pharmaceutical care logarithm shows a potential for improvement of corticosteroid drug treatment.

Keywords: adverse drug reactions, pharmacovigilance, corticosteroids.
