ABSTRACT

Aim: Aim of the study is to find out the phytoconstituents in ethanol extract and its effect on microbes. Objective: Identify the compounds through GCMS/ MS, In vitro antimicrobial assay was performed to know about the ability of extract in killing the microbes. Abstract: The present study was carried out to analyze the phyto constituents present in the ethanol extract of Muntingia calabura stem and also its antibacterial, antifungal activity. Through GC-MS/MS, we could get 11 compounds. Out of 11 compounds, highest peak was observed with Propane, 1,1-diethoxy- followed by 1,2,3-Benzenetriol (24.24), t-Butyl hydrogen phthalate (20.48). Lowest peak was observed with Quinazolin-4(3H)-one, 2,3-diphenyl- (0.98%), Dodecanoic acid, ethyl ester (0.84%), Cyclopropanecarboxylic acid, oct-3-en-2-yl ester (0.44%). Moderate peak was observed with β-l-Arabinopyranoside, 1H-Pyrazole, 4,5-dihydro-3-methyl-1-propyl- methyl, β-Sitosterol, 4-Isopropylthiouracil, Stigmastan-3,5-diene. Compounds identified through GC-MS/MS analysis plays a major role in the antimicrobial property of ethanol extract of Muntingia calabura stem.
