ABSTRACT
Haemonchus contortus a blood sucking parasite causing anaemia that may be fatal particularly to young animals. Faecal samples were obtained from 380 goats in July and August, 2013 from 13 randomly selected local farms around D.G. Khan. In this study 96 (25.26%) goats were found to be positive for H. contortus. Infection of parasite was more prevalent in males than in female goats (31.85 VS 22.47; P<0.05). In Teddy goats the prevalence was significantly (P<0.05) higher than in Beetal goats (29.6% versus 19.1%). The Results regarding the relationship between different age groups of goats and H. contortus showed that highest prevalence (31.66%) of parasite was observed in age group of 3-12 months and the lowest (15.55%) in age group of >42 months. The prevalence was significantly different
(P<0.05). These results indicate that the sex, age and breed of hosts had effect on prevalence of H. contortus.
