Abstract

PHARMACOLOGICAL & CLINICAL EVALUATION OF INDIGENOUS HERBAL COMPOUND IN TROPICAL PULMONARY EOSINOPHILIA

ABSTRACT

The clinical condition which has been variously designated as tropical eosinophilia, has been proverbial to physicians even prior to 1930. It can occur due to various pathologic processes. Tissue eosinophil infiltration is an important feature of tropical pulmonary eosinophilia. Ayurvedic medicines provide a wide range of formulations & treatment modalities for the management of such chronic disease. A study was carried out to evaluate the efficacy and safety of an Ayurvedic compound formulation in tropical eosinophilia. This article accounts the analysis of 30 patients with tropical eosinophilia who underwent a full clinical, radiological, and pathological study. There was a significant result in eosinophil and neutrophil count along with other criteria determined for the study including respiration rate, PEFR etc. (p < 0.001).
