ABSTRACT
The Paliperidone was investigated for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities in animal models. The Paliperidone at 5 mg/kg body weight reduced significantly the formation of oedema induced by carrageenan and histamine. In the acetic acid-induced writhing model, hot plate method and tail flick method the Paliperidone had a good analgesic effect (P<0.05) characterized by a reduction in the number of writhes and increased tail flick latency respectively when compared to the control. These results were also comparable to those of Diclofenac sodium, the reference drug used in this study. This study has provided some justification for the Paliperidone use in several communities for conditions such as pain and inflammations.
