ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY AND PHYTOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF MEDICINAL PLANTS

ABSTRACT

There is a lot of thrust on utilization of bioactive chemicals produced within the plant systems. Four commonly used medicinal plants are selected, and phytochemicals extracted using methanol. The extracts are further used to estimate the antibacterial ability against three gram positive bacteria and two gram negative bacteria. The zone of inhibition of growth is seen in all the bacteria . The plant extracts have profound effect on both gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
