ABSTRACT
Peptic ulcer is one of the serious disease affecting the gastrointestinal tract of many people in this part of the world. It causes inflammatory injuries in either the gastric or duodenal mucosa, with extension beyond the submucosa into the muscularis mucosa. Accurate diagnosis has to be made before reaching conclusion of peptic ulcer disease (PUD). In this study,50 subjects, 10 confirmed peptic ulcer patients aged 37-70 years and 40 non-peptic ulcer patients aged 40-68 years were used as the control for the study. The study showed significant decrease (P<0.05) in fasting blood sugar concentration and no significant change in PCV, Hb and lipid profile tests. The study was done to find out if there were haematological and biochemical changes in peptic ulcer patients for their proper managements.
