COMPARATIVE STUDY ON INSULIN Vs ORAL HYPOGLYCEMIC AGENTS USED IN THE TREATMENT OF DIABETIC FOOT ULCER

ABSTRACT

A Diabetic foot ulcer is defined in the current system, according to the International Consensus on the Diabetic Foot, skin necrosis and gangrene are also included in the current system as ulcer. This study investigates if different diabetic treatment regimens affect diabetic foot ulcer healing. Insulin therapy is the cornerstone in managing hyperglycaemia in diabetic foot patients in view of their long duration of diabetes and other co-morbidities. Optimal treatment also often involves oral hypoglycemic, extensive surgical debridement and management of the wound base, effective antibiotic therapy This article focuses on management of diabetic foot infections in identification, assessment and antibiotic therapy of diabetic foot infections.
