PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF CHITOSAN NANOPARTICLE OF AN ANTI -CANCER DRUG

ABSTRACT
The main aim of this work was to formulate and evaluate nanoparticles of an anti-cancer agent which is used mainly in treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. Nanoparticles were prepared by ionic gelation technique using suitable biodegradable and biocompatible polymer such as chitosan and cross linker in different concentration. In this study gefitinib was used as model drug because of its extensive use as anti-cancer drug in the form of tablet. Ten nanoparticles were formulated in different concentration of chitosan and sodium tri poly phosphate (STPP). The nanoparticles were characterized in case of entrapment efficiency (EE), particle size, poly dispersity index (PDI), zeta potential, release study and kinetics.
