COLORIMETRIC TRIFLUOPERAZINE HCL ASSAY IN TABLETS AND INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER

ABSTRACT
A sensitive, accurate, simple, and rapid colorimetric method for the
assay of Trifluoperazine. in pure form, tablets and wastewater samples.
The principle of this method is based on the oxidation of
Trifluoperazine by sodium hypochlorite in acetic acid medium to form
red color product with a maximum absorption at 448 nm. Beer’s Law
was obeyed in the range of 2-30 μg/ml with molar absorbitivity of 0.39
×104 L.mol.-1.cm-1. Relative standard deviation of the method was less
than 2% and accuracy (average recovery) was 100±1.2% .This method
successfully done for assay of Trifluoperazine in tablets and
wastewater samples.
