AN AYURVEDIC APPROACH OF AAMVATA- A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
The concept of Ama is unique in Ayurvedic science and this Ama is main cause of the various disorders. Aamvata is a disease caused by mainly Rasavaha srotodushti in which vitiation of Vata Dosha and accumulation of Ama take place in joints. A 36 year old female who was suffering from multiple joints pain, recurrent mild fever, belching, and nausea, heart burn visited the hospital for Ayurvedic treatment. The patient was diagnosed as a case of Amavata on the basis of the clinical signs and symptoms and investigations. In this case, patient who was suffering from aamvata was cured by ayurvedic chikitsa. Nidan parivarjan, Laghu ahar, virechan, swedan and drugs which are aampachak, shothghna and kledaghan are useful to treat aamvata. Assessment of patient was done by relief of symptoms and laboratorial investigation. During discharge, Fever totally subside, all other
symptoms like nausea, heart burn, weakness were absent. Pain, stiffness and swelling of joint were reduced.
