Abstract

A REVIEW ON TYPES OF SAMPRAPTI IN CHARAKA CHIKITSA STHANA

ABSTRACT

The aim of Ayurveda is “Swasthasyaswasthyarakshana” and “Aturasyavikaraprashamana”, it is achieved on the bases of various concepts of Ayurveda. Nidan Panchak is one of them. To cope with the fast developing field of medicine many Ayurvedic concepts are to be reviewed, also must be updated and presented so as to fulfil the lacunae in the diagnosis and treatment. As the main treatment principle is „Samprapti vighatan eva hi chikitsa’ i.e. Breaking of pathogenesis is treatment. Treating the disease as early as possible is by breaking the pathogenesis at starting stage hence knowledge of Samprapti is essential. Conclusion: - Acharya Charaka has explained Sankhya, Vidhi and Vikalpa Samprapti in most of the vyadhi given in Charaka Samhita. Sankhya Samprapti helps in identification of specific type of vyadhi. With the help of Vidhi Samprapti; where different views of classification of the same disease are described; we are able to understand the pathogenesis of the disease. This helps to design the treatment plan in a better way. Vikalpa Samprapti gives an idea about specific qualities of doshas involved in pathogenesis and helping to design the treatmsent plan more effective targeting the anshansha doshas involved in the pathogenesis.
