ABSTRACT
This review focuses on Indian Herbal drugs and plants used in the treatment of diabetes, In India it is proving to be a major health problem, especially in the urban areas. Herbal formulations are preferred due to lesser side effects and low cost. A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition. The recent oral hypoglycemic agents generate unwanted consequences. & Due to
lesser side effect and low cost the herbal formulations are becoming popular now days particularly in curing the disease. The present paper aims to review various plant species from Indian origin and their constituents, which have been used in the traditional system of medicine and have shown hypoglycemic activity.
