SYNTHESIS, CHEMICAL CHARACTERIZATION AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF SOME NEW BENZOTHIAZOLE DERIVATIVES

ABSTRACT
Biologically active heterocyclic system is coupled with another, their will be an increase in the biological activity of the resultant molecule. Substituted benzothiazoles have received considerable attention during last decades as they are endowed with variety of biological activities and have wide range of therapeutic properties. Keeping in view of these facts, under present study biheterocyclic compounds were synthesized in which benzothiazole is linked to oxadiazole, thiazolidinone and mannich bases. The structure of synthesized compound confirmed by spectroscopic techniques and monitored by
TLC and melting point. All the synthesized compounds were screened for antibacterial and antifungal activity studies at a concentration of 100μg/ml using DMF as a control against B.pumillis, B.subtilis, Escherichia coli, P.aeruginosa bacterial strain by cup-plate technique on nutrient agar media and against Aspergillus niger and Candida Albicance pathogenic fungi on potato dextrose agar media. Ciprofloxacin and Clotrimazole was used as a standard for antibacterial and antifungal activity. Among the synthesized compounds the compounds 4b, 4c, 4f showed good activities.
