Abstract

A NON BLIND RANDOMIZED CLINICAL STUDY OF PATOLAMOOLADI GHANA VATI AND ARKA TAILA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF PAMA (ECZEMA).

ABSTRACT

Pama is described in kshudra kushtha as doshik predominace of pitta kapha. The symptoms like pruritus, papule formation, inflammation and oozing seen in pama is analogous to the symptoms of eczema which is seen in mild, moderate and aggravated form. Eczema, also known as dermatitis an inflammatory condition, provoked by a wide variety of stimuli i.e. direct injury from toxic chemicals, mechanical trauma and immunological reactions, is defined as distinctive reaction of the epidermis to a variety of agents, endogenous and/or exogenous; very common in the developed countries. In modern science, the management of pama is not so effective and produce some undesirable effects as compared to conventional methods of treatment as mentioned in ayurveda. The group of disorders which produce discoloration and alter the normal texture of skin is included in kushtha roga in ayurveda. In this study 60 patients were selected at OPD and IPD of N.P.A GOVT ayurvedic college & hospital Raipur (C.G.) during 2013-14. All the patients are divided into 3 groups having 20 patients in each group. Patolamooladi Ghana vati was administered internally and arka tail was applied externally in group A. In Group B the intervention was virechan followed by administration of Patolmooladi ghana vati internally and Arka taila externally. In Grp C Raktamokshana done by Jaulaka avacharan followed by Patolamooladi ghana vati internally and arka taila application externally.
