Abstract

STUDY OF PHYSICO CHEMICAL REQUIREMENTS OF BIS (PHENOXY METHYL) BENZENES, BIS (PHENOXYMETHYL) NAPHTHALENES AND BIS (BENZYLOXY) NAPHTHALENES FOR ANTIPROTOZOAL ACTIVITY: A QSAR APPROACH.

ABSTRACT

The Protozoal infectious diseases such as human trypanasomiasis (HAT), malaria and leishmaniasis are continued to be one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in different endemic areas. An important class of drug that was shown to be effective against protozoal infections discovered in previous decades is aryl dicationic minor groove binder. So QSAR study was performed in a series of dicationic bis (phenoxymethyl) benzenes, bis (phenoxymethyl) naphthalenes, and bis (benzyloxy) naphthalenes to explore the physico chemical parameters and anti protozoal activity. Physicochemical parameters were calculated by using CS Chem-Office Software version 6.0 and Multiple Regression Analysis were adapted to develop QSAR models. The results of this study indicate that biological activity of this class of compounds is governed by thermodynamic, topological and steric properties of the molecules. The study will be helpful to design better antiprotozoal analogs.
