CLINICAL STUDY ON THE ROLE OF SHALLAKI IN THE MANAGEMENT OF SANDHIVATA

ABSTRACT
Sandhivata (O.A) is one of the vata vyadhi which is described in all Samhitas and Sangraha Grantha. Sandhivata (O.A.) is generally considered as difficult to cure and runs a chronic course, at the parihani Kala. When the degenerative process sets in. In the modern medicine, it is reported that this degenerative changes in joints arise from the age of 30 years by the age of 65 years. 80% of people have radiographic evidence of osteo-arthritis although only 25% may have symptoms. In the present study total 20 pt. were registered of Sandhivata and treated with shallaki only. This significant relief in the joint pain, morning stiffness crepitus, prasarana pravriti & shrama asahyata. So it suggested that Sallaki is useful in (O.A) due to its, vedanasthapana, Sothahara deepana, Pachana, grahi & vatahara effect.
