EVALUATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE OF ADVERSE DRUG REACTION REPORTING AMONG MEDICAL UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS IN A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL

ABSTRACT
Spontaneous reporting of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) plays a major
role in pharmacovigilance programme. Hence this present study was
undertaken to evaluate the impact of educational intervention; to
assess the knowledge and attitude of reporting adverse drug reactions
among the medical undergraduate students. It was a cross-sectional
questionnaire based study conducted in a tertiary care medical college.
Data was analysed and presented in percentage and counts. A total of
two hundred and thirty eight (238) medical undergraduates participated
in this study; most of them were aware of the concepts of ADR
reporting. The results of this study show that the educational
intervention about ADR reporting in curriculum has created awareness
of pharmacovigilance programme among students and may help them
to incorporate in their future clinical practice.
