RE-USABLE NANO Fe3O4 CATALYSTS FOR HIGH YIELD SYNTHESIS OF 1,5-BENZODIAZEPINE DERIVATIVES EITHER IN SOLUTION NOR UNDER SOLVENT-FREE CONDITIONS

ABSTRACT
Re-usable nano Fe3O4 catalyzes efficiently, the condensation of ophenylenediamine
with various ketones either in solution nor under
solvent-free conditions to afford the corresponding 1,5-benzodiazepine
derivatives in good to excellent yields (<99%). The catalyst was
magnetically separated and reused three times without significant loss
of catalytic activity. Mild reaction conditions, clean reaction media,
simple workup and easy purification are advantages of this
methodology. All the title compounds were confirmed from their
elemental analysis, IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and Mass Spectral data.
