GC-MS ANALYSIS OF METHANOL EXTRACT OF DECALEPIS HAMILTONII ROOT (WIGHT & ARN)

ABSTRACT
The aim of the current study was to characterize the chemical
constituent of Decalepis hamiltonii using GC-MS method. GC-MS
analysis of methanolic extract of root of Decalepis hamiltonii revealed
the presence of 6 bioactive compounds namely 3,7-dimethyl –
Undecane, 3-ethyl-5-(2-ethylbutyl)-Octadecane, 2-hydroxy-4-
methoxy-benzaldehyde, Glycodeoxycholic acid, 3-acetoxy-7,8-
Epoxylanostan-11-ol and Chlortetracycline. The major constituent was
2-hydroxy-4-methoxy- benzaldehyde with RT 9.52 has peak area of
91.29. The results revealed that methanolic extract of Decalepis
hamiltonii possesses a broad spectrum of many medicinal properties.
