SYNTHESIS OF ?-CYCLODEXTRIN/ZNO NANOCOMPOSITES AND ITS IMPROVED ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY ON COTTON FABRIC

ABSTRACT
Plant extracts mediated synthesis has been carried out for obtaining stable, low cost ZnO nanoparticles. ZnO nanoparticles were prepared using precursor with plant extract in a greener way. The prepared ZnO nanoparticles were mixed with β-cyclodextrin solution. The β- cyclodextrin/ZnO nanocomposites were cross-linked with cotton fabric using citric acid as cross linker. The synthesized nanocomposites and coated fabric were characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with EDX and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis. The antibacterial tests were done against gram positive Staphylococcus aureus and gram negative Escherichia coli bacterium by agar diffusion method.
