Abstract

COMPARATIVE STUDY OF ANTI-TUBERCULOSIS REGIMEN AT RURAL AND URBAN AREAS OF SINDH PAKSITAN

ABSTRACT

To analyze the effectiveness of three regimen therapy and different demographic factors and their impact on therapeutics. More than 300 patients were randomly selected and interviewed from hospitals available at Dadu, Umerkot, and kotri to collect the information about category-I (new cases of Pulmonary T.B.) In the present study total patients were 314. The majority of the patients were with, cough, fever, fatigue; the mean was 104.6 and standard deviation was 5.0. The weight loss was observed in patients with mean values, 99.3 and SD was 7.5. Heamoptysis was observed mean was 49 and with sd 13.2. Socio economical back ground of different patients class like poor, Middle and in wealthy was found with mean of 72.66, 30.66 and 1.33 with SD, 3.8, 0.57and 1.15respectively. Educational back ground was categorized as illiterate, primary, secondary and graduation/post graduation patients with mean of 68.3,20. 33,15 and 1also with SD, 8.08, 5.7, 3, 1 respectively. Family history in affected patients with T B was calculated mean as 32.6 while 72 mean of without previous history.Initial phase of therapy was completed by all patients and continuation phase was completed by mean 91.3 with SD 7.02 patients.The sputum microscopy was conducted; the mean results were 99.3 and sd 7.5. After treatment of 2,5,7 months and completed therapy, patients pathological evaluation mean 99.33,18.66,02 and 02 and SD was 17.1,12.5, 00, 08.08 and 3.05.The outcomes of regimen, % patients succefuly cured were with mean 61.3 and SD is 17.1. The failure % was 0.6 and death ratio was 2.66 and defaulted 8.66 patients were observed in selected areas.The minor side effects like Skin rashes, Shortness of breath, Pain in abdomen Nausea and Vomiting, with mean were 7.3, 2, 10.3, 16, and 8.3 also calculated SD 5.7, 00, 0.577, 4.58 and 1.53. The major side effects like Hepatitis, Juandiace, Joint pain, Gout, Blurring vision, Impairment of vision, Red and green blindness, purpurea with mean 2,0,0.66,0.33, 7.33, 2, 0, and 0 and SD was 02,0, 1.15,0.57,4.72, 00,0 and 0. So it can be concluded that effective patient counseling play a very optimistic role in the eradication of disease.
