GENOMICS AND PROTEOMICS APPROACHES IN SOME PROBIOTIC SPECIES

ABSTRACT
Probiotics has microbial benefits to the consumers based on food
supplements. Microbial selection and consideration has to be done
based on clinical evidence to support health attributes to the selected
strains present in the living species, based on functional, safety and
beneficial technological characters. Genomics and proteomics
approaches can be consider on microbial species, which are beneficial
to the host in prevention of diseases. Lactobacillus acidophilus is a
closer species with Lactobacillus johnsonii, Lactobacillus rhamnosus
is closer to Lactobacillus paracasei, Bifidobacterium longum is
divergent with lactobacillus species, had been predicted based on
phylogenetic analysis. Intercommunications may be present between
the probiotic species in regulation of products such as Lacose. Systems approach in these
species can provide scientists a better approach in switching on or switching off the
regulation of genes within a living organism.
