Abstract

PREPARATION OF ANTARDHUMA RASASINDURA (RED SULPHIDE OF MERCURY) BY ADHASEKATA YANTRA VIS-A-VIS TRADITIONAL METHOD

ABSTRACT

Various types of medicinal preparation are described in rasashastra like bhasma, pisti, parpati, pottali, kharaliya rasayana, kupipakwa rasayana etc. out of these kupipakwa rasayana kalpana is the most important preparation of parada which is prepared in kupi (glass bottle). The Pharmaceutical processing of antardhuma rasasindura involves treating parada with gandhaka and then controlled heating so that the metallic form of parada is change into the corresponding sulphide form. In this study antardhuma rasasindura (red sulphide of mercury) was prepared by adhasekata yantra vis-a-vis traditional method where detailed documentation of each step of process was done. The quality of prepared antardhuma rasasindura assessed by ayurvedic as well as in laboratory and results were interpreted. The study establishes manufacturing of antardhuma rasasindura by adhasekata yantra.
